All The Road Runnings

Yes I know, this post is really delayed, but seeing as though I didn't have my camera with me I was relying on a friend to get pictures back from her. I first must admit that I did not prepare myself as good as I should've, would've, could've for this race. Granted I had a baby the end of January, however, the fact that there were two girls 7 months pregnant running my same stages, I felt I had no excuses. I survived the three legs that total up to 13 miles. Our poor team had some ups and downs before the race was here. I think we only had 6 of the original members on our team actually run. Injuries, pregnancies, and personal issues caused half the team to drop. Luckily we found replacements (a few jumped in only a day before the race). Despite the randomness of our team I made a few new friends and enjoyed the experience. The scenery of the Wasatch mountains, lakes, and country side made it hard to complain while running not too mention the weather couldn't have been better. Between my shuffle playlist, the support of my teammates, and Brian and the girls cheering me on made pushing through that much easier.

12 runners, 2 vans, lack of sleep, tired legs, stomach problems, a few team hiccups along the way, 189 miles and 30 hours later we finished Ragnar 2010 Wasatch Back. I had a great time and would love to do this again.

Silver Lake

Brian is gone pretty much the month of July for work up in Mt. Hood Oregon, so one evening while he was gone, I went with the girls and my mom to Silver Lake up by Brighton. It was nice to escape the heat and enjoy the beauty of the mountains. This little outing only got us more excited for our trip to see Bri in Oregon.

I had to post these cute little pictures of my girls. They are growing up so fast!

Eliza has discovered her toes and feet this past week and loves holding them. It's like she is a monkey, it really cracks me up when she wraps her legs around my arm and her little toes will curl around my fingers. She's even been able to put them in her mouth. I guess you could say that in this picture she is demonstrating the yoga pose, 'baby pose'. Good Job Eliza!

Finley kept asking if we could turn on the 'sprinkling system' and if she could put her 'boat' swimsuit on today. First of all this kid misses nothing! I looked at her and asked, 'Which sprinkling system?' 'You know mom, the green one in the garage.' How she even knew there was a sprinkler up on a shelf I don't know. Next I didn't realize that she remembered she had a swimsuit with sailboats on them. More so I wasn't sure if it would even fit, being a size 2T from last year. Of course it finally fits her this year, my skinny minny. So out we went and it didn't matter to her that the wind was blowing, the water was freezing. She wanted to run through the sprinkler. After about 45 minutes she decided she was wrinkly enough and wanted to go in and take a warm bath and put her warm pajama's on. (They are long sleeve, long pant fleece pajama's) Fin really makes me laugh some days. I can't wait to see what Eliza's personality is going to be like.

4th

I'm always wanting and regretting that I don't have more pictures of my family and what we do. And of course that was the case this 4th of July, which was the first 4th that we've actually been with Finley. Most years we are in Lake Powell. I do apologize for the quality of the pictures, they were all taken with my IPhone. This week was fun, Brian decided not to race so we got to hang out and sleep in on Saturday. That night we went to a BBQ with some great friends. The kids got to ride around on little four-wheelers and dirt bikes, while the adults visited, played horseshoes and enjoyed lots of yummy food. Fin wasn't sure about the sparklers but after a bit we convinced her they wouldn't hurt her and she was into them. The Midway fireworks were spectacular! We had one of the best spots to watch them. Brian left early Sunday morning to go to Mt. Hood Oregon for the month. Even though he'll be gone for a bit, we are excited because we are going out there next week for 5 days to see him. I've always wanted to go to Oregon and so I can't wait. I must mention that we are hitching a ride with a good friend and her three kids, so in all we will have 5 kids under 4 in a van for 13 hours. Should be entertaining and can't wait to write a post about it.

MMMM I'm Hungry

Mmmm is what Eliza says to food. I know, so 6 months is the magic age for starting baby food, but I've also read that if the baby seems interested and can sit in a highchair they may be ready to try food. So, I decided to give it a shot. Tonight's first food: Squash. She loved it! In fact she was mad when it was all gone. I figured if I start with veggies then go to the fruits she won't get stuck on the sweets right off. I do have to say that it is amazing how things change and new products come out in such a short time. In the three year difference of doing all this with Finley, there are some handy new gadgets. I've found that the line 'Boon' and 'Sassy' have some good starters. Boon has this great spoon called 'Squirt,' (it's the big pink one in the picture) you pour the baby food in the big pink handle, screw the spoon top on, and squeeze the handle and the food slowly comes out on the spoon. It's a great on the go item, you put in the food, put the cap on the spoon and one less item to carry in the endless diaper bag. Ok, so I may like finding new treasures, but anything that makes my life that much easier (and yes organized) I'm for it. On the menu for tomorrow, pears for breakfast, and peas for dinner. It's amazing, I have one little girl who is super picky and have to beg to eat, the other, dying to try anything I'll give her. I love my girls!!

'Marriage Savers'

Ok so maybe these aren't really "marriage saver's" but that is what Brian has been calling them. Ever since we went to Europe years ago and Bri got accustomed to how the European's do their bedding (even on Queen size beds), meaning two twin comforter's and maybe a quilt folded at the end of the bed, he has been begging me to do this with our bedding. Yes, this has been going on for 4 or 5 years now. And in all honestly I loved my bedding before and couldn't find what I wanted to do for this new arrangement until now. (not going to lie, the white makes me a little nervous but looks good and that's why we have bleach right?) I'll tell you what, it has been awesome!! For some strange reason I like to wiggle to the end of the bed so that my feet can hang off and that of course pulls all the covers to Brian's waist and he's left freezing half the time. He is a floppy fish and who knows where the covers will end up. So in the end, this two comforter situation solves all! Still allows you to snuggle if you want but when it's sleep time, do as you please: roll, wrap, wiggle, flo, one leg on top, be at the top or bottom of the bed, you're all set. Why didn't I do this sooner? (besides, the European in me should have known better to begin with)

Not an experiment

No this is not a regular size marsh-mellow next to a mini marsh-mellow. This is a oversized, super-duper, marsh-mellow! This may be a silly post but both Bri and I couldn't believe how big it is! I'm not even sure where my mom found these crazy mellows, but I guess they exist without being part of some crazy experiment.
