This past Saturday we went to the Supercross here in Salt Lake. This was Finley's second time of going (this time she was more than 6 weeks old and knew what was going on). Apart from the really loud booms from the fireworks she loved it. She had a corndog, dippin dots, churro, two sprites, and kettlecorn. Needless to say she was a happy little girl. When the bikes came out we asked her if she was faster then they were, and of course her answer was 'duh mom'. The weather that day had been off and on clear skies and rain. As the announcer was interviewing the racers he had asked their opinion on how the race was going to be and they responded by 'wet and slick.' Did they know something we didn't? Yep, sure enough it started raining. As we all know Utah weather shifts every 10 minutes. So instead of going from rain to no rain, we went from a slight drizzle, rain, no rain, hard rain, drizzle, hard rain, snow. The racer's later admitted that they've never raced in snow. We had dressed Fin in her warmest and most waterproof clothes but by the time the main event started we were all soaked and she was starting to get cold. So unfortunately we left. May I mention, we knew with the weather and track being the way it was it was a no brainer that KW (Kevin Windham) would win, and win he did, lapping clear up to the 2nd and 3rd place riders. I wish I could have taken pictures of the snow storm we drove home in. It was the most bizar thing. We couldn't tell what direction we were going, what speed we were going or if we were moving at all. Come on already, it's May and we are having worse storms then in February! All in all it was a great night and we hope to go next year. (I also want to mention that not one single supercross race that we've been to in 6 years has had good weather. Not in SLC or Vegas).
Yes we are all in our winter gear and its May.
